Advantages of disc granulator in fertilizer production field

2025/03/20

In the field of fertilizer production, the disc fertilizer granulator is a highly favored and historically significant equipment. Its structure is relatively simple, but it contains the principle of efficient granulation.

The disc granulator is mainly composed of a motor, a reducer, a disc, a feeding device, and a spraying device. During operation, the motor drives the disc to rotate at a stable speed through a reducer. The powdered fertilizer raw materials are evenly dropped onto the rotating disc from the feeding device.

During the rotation of the disc, centrifugal force and frictional force work together on the material. Centrifugal force causes the material to have a tendency to move towards the edge of the disc, while frictional force causes the material to climb up along the inner wall of the disc. So, the material forms a circular motion trajectory on the disc, rises from the bottom to a certain height, and then falls back to the bottom due to gravity.

At this point, the spraying device plays a crucial role. It evenly sprays the prepared adhesive onto the moving material. Adhesive is like glue, causing small powder fertilizer particles to adhere to each other. As the disk continues to rotate, these adhered small particles continue to roll and collide, continuously adsorbing the surrounding powdery materials and gradually forming larger particles.

The disc granulator has many advantages. Firstly, it is easy to operate and has relatively low technical requirements for operators. Secondly, by adjusting parameters such as the rotation speed, inclination angle, and adhesive spraying amount of the disc, the size and shape of the particles can be flexibly controlled to meet the needs of different users. Moreover, the device has strong versatility and can adapt to various types of fertilizer raw materials with different properties.

However, the disc fertilizer granulator also has some limitations. For example, its production efficiency is relatively low compared to some large granulation equipment, making it less suitable for large-scale fertilizer production. Moreover, when dealing with some highly viscous raw materials, there may be a situation where the material adheres to the disc, which affects the granulation effect.

Nevertheless, the disc granulator still holds an important position in small and medium-sized fertilizer production enterprises due to its simple and reliable characteristics, providing an economical and practical solution for the shaping and processing of fertilizers.
